Knitting

I went to our LYS (Local Yarn Shop) and their stock isn't staying on the shelves either. It is amazing how many women can fit into one little store. If I had the capital to do so I believe I might open my own store. That will have to wait. I received my new book, "The Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits".

The Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits

There is only one problem, If I were local to New York and could go to their shop, I imagine I could knit anything in their book, but my local yarn shops do not carry the same yarn nor could they match up the weights (which are not given in the book, only the gauges were given). The book is lovely though, and inspiring, but I will probably have to stick with the patterns for the yarn in my local shops. I just can't bring myself to purchase "new" yarns off the Internet. I have to feel them first. I am trying a sweater anyway, but I can tell already my yarn isn't chunky enough. I got my gauge width wise, but not in height, so I will probably run out of yarn an end up ripping the whole thing out. I should know when I get close to being 1/2 done. If I know I have used more than 1/2 of my yarn, then I know it was all for naught.
That is all for now, back to my nutty knitting. I learned how to knit in 1975 when I was in 3rd grade and I knit this never ending scarf because the class had ended before my scarf so I never learned how to bind off.

I found a cool knitter blog that some of you may be interested in.

midnightknitter

Since My Mother-n-law reintroduced me to knitting in January (2004), I have knit 4 scarves (and yes they were bound off so I don't have to run around with a knitting needle on my neck). I am so addicted. I have been using two yarns to make cool looking summer scarves. It must be really hot right now because the craft stores can't even stock their shelves, people are buying yarn and knitting needles as they come in the back door. Well that is all for now, I have some nutty knitting to do.
